Farmers Market & Dogs...pics inside!

So part of our schooling today on Day 2 was a trip to our local Farmers Market. Such great finds today!

First let me say we are doing a Unit on Dogs with our lapbook. We stopped at the library and the kids signed out 10 books having to do with Dogs (they also got a movie Underdog!)

Then we headed over to the market. We stopped at the baked goods table where the kids were awarded a free sample..YUMMO so they say!

Oh and also on the way into the market we came across a man who was walking his dog. Happened to my favorite breed...the Great Dane. Her name is Sadie and she is a beautiful Fawn color. The kids asked questions and petted the dog. It was great!

Then over to the veggie table...oh what a treat we got there. We are having a Labor Day bbq and I bought most of my fresh veggies there1

Then a trip to the Alpaca Table where we learned about how they arrived at this beautiful yarn from the Alpacas. The woman was friendly and very informative. Actually they are even having a Farm day in September that we can go learn more about them.

Then over to the pickle and pickled veggie table.Just had to buy some fresh pickles and mushrooms! We also visitied the fresh milk and cheese table. I bought some goat cheese with rosemary in it...OHHHH Baby! The kids sampled the chocolate milk and we ended up buying some of that...very creamy!

The only table we did not purchase as was the fruit...too expensive in my opinion and the jelly table. Zachary tried a variety of jellies but nothing he loved, so we passed on the jelly and jam.

Overall great morning...now more school!

Fall is coming....see our pics to prove it!

Fall is my favorite time of the year and living in NY makes it just spectacular. Here are a few pics from the yard today that just let me know it's right around the corner!

1st day of school! WHA WHO!

Today was our 1st day of the new school year (full time)...We started at 9 am (EST) and just ended at 2:50 pm. I thought it might be too much for them being preK and 1st/2nd grade but they did great...broke up the day with outside nature time and playtime. Kids had a great time and so did I. So nice not having them fight or ask for TV! Here was our schedule:

Prayers - start at 9:00 am
Thought of the day...talk about it(today was do you like Banana sundaes or ice cream sandwiches? Why did you pick what you picked?
Letter of the Week "A" - practice and journal write
Snack Break w/ music
Math
Outside for 30 mins nature time
Inside for lunch
computer time
Reading
Art
Social Studies
End at 2:50 pm
Here are some pictures:

And on the 7th day we rest....

One would think that after a week of caring for my home, my three little blessings, all the dr appts, errands, shopping, appts and more that I would welcome a day to just sit back and put my feet up - so why can't I? I can never seem to just put my feet up and breathe. Is it because I want to "do it all", "have it all", have the perfect home, place for my kids....OR is it because I really don't know how to relax? I think it's a little of both. I am always trying to please others and make sure that everyone else is happy and taken care of, I really never look in the mirror and ask myself, What have you done for Melissa lately?" I have not been to the gym in almost 2 months (sick for a long time and now just lazy)! I do find time a few times a month to meet girlfriends out for a ladies night out. But how wonderful would it be that I could sit in my own home, on my deck, in the bath or even on the potty for that matter...without being interrupted for just 30 minutes. Ah...take that moment to just breathe in the air and let God take over. Will this be possible?

Good Morning and Happy Friday Blog Hopping all

TGIF! I am glad the weather has turned here for the better in NY. We had so much rain our backyard was looking like a lake! The grass is real green now that is for sure. Sleeping was great last night with the full moon shinning on the deck and the coolness in the air. This weekend we are doing some outside stuff that has been neglected and getting ready for the Fall here, which by far, is my favorite time of year in NY!

I hope everyone has a chance to Blog Hop today...see the Chickadee button to the right...click it...see the hop and have fun!

Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down 8(

On a lighter note....Happy Anniversary (7 years) to my hubby!

Had Molly's 1st GI Specialist appt today. Did not learn anything that I did not already know and of course had to wait an hour to find that out 8(

Trying a few new things, please pray for her that we can get her "issues" under control soon.

Nervous of the dr's tomorrow for Molly....

Molly has an appt with a peds GI dr tomorrow for her "holding" issue. Giving her an enema every other day is not fun for anyone. I am hoping she actually finds something wrong internally so we can get it fixed, otherwise, I am afraid "it's all in her head" as far as the pain goes. Pray for her please!

Tomorrow is also my mine and my husbands 7 year wedding anniversary! So happy we have had such a great 7 (10 together) years together! I love ya honey! XOXO

I have a button now~!

So excited...my oldest son made me a button for people to grab! Happy days!

Little Trip North today!

I took the kids about an hour and 1/2 North of us to the mountains to see their cousins. My aunt and uncle own a home on a private lake outside of Roscoe NY called Lake Muskaday. This is a place, that as a kid, I went to and my dad went to when he was a little boy. The kids had a great time. I think it was probably their 5th time up there ever. Lazy days of Summer. Here are a few pics

God is Good ....All the Time

As a child of God, I am reminded that he is good all the time. Even if we don't realize it at that moment.

It's so important to take a step back, out of your own shoes to see the beauty in things. It's all around us. The simple dandelion flower or the black ant that is working it's way across your driveway.

Here at our home we have acorns starting to fall off the trees now and the girls are just amazed at them. They study them, pretend they are little people with hats on..lol...something so simple that God has created can entertain them for nearly 30 mins!

Believing for God to work: I recently (and by recently I mean 7 months ago) left my church where I was worshiping and in fellowship with others for about 3 years. The church got a little too "political" for my taste and I left my Sunday School teaching "post" along with the church all together. What surprises me, still, is the lack of outreach that i have received. When I attend the church I was friends with nearly everyone. Getting together, going out, attending conferences etc. Now that I no longer attend there, I hear from not 1 person at all. It makes me sad. I did try to keep in contact with a few but those relationships seemed strained with me not being there anymore. This is not the 1st time it has happened to me. What gives? Why are people sooo supportive and friendly when you are seeing them all the time but as soon as you drop off the radar so to speak, you hear nothing? I have tried several other churches in my area, but nothing seems to be a good fit. I am praying about it a lot and I know that i don't NEED a church but I WANT to be a part of a church and what it offers to my family. I need some renewing of my faith that I will find something soon. I even thought about starting up my own church and had two people interested, but they backed out. 8( I guess my ramblings need to come to an end and I have to get on with some lesson plans with the kiddies...

Thanks all for listening! Remember - God is Good - All the Time!'

SO EXCITED!

I just booked my reservation and hotel for Relevant Conference in October. I have NEVER been away from the children for more than 1 night, so this will be a challenge in of itself. I am sure the time away will renew me. Being with other like minded women of faith will renew my spirit also! I just can't wait!

Thank you Eric for affording me this opportunity!

Love XOXO

My Molly featured on the web today! Check it out!

School Supplies & the Dentist and Random Acts of Kindness

So today, as some of you might have read this morning in the blog, was the 6 month trip to the dentist for all three little ones. Zachary did great, Molly did great...the baby, Sammie, not so great. Although she got her teeth cleaned and examined, she did cry a lot.

After that we went to the mall to get school supplies for us and we decided this year to buy supplies for a fellow homeschooling family in another state that we found out is in real need of supplies and books. They are really struggling and want to continue to school their kids, so we set a budget and bought them an entire BOX full of supplies we are sending out tomorrow! Helps my kids understand random acts of kindness also.

Here is a picture of the dentist and the supplies I bought for our kids for $ 10!

Monday = Dentist day 8(

So all three of the little ones have dentist appts today. Sam, who is only 15 months, has her 1st appt. I will be sure to take pictures!

I almost forgot, yesterday I was sitting on the deck reading the Sunday paper when I heard a loud buzzing/humming sound behind me, slowly turned to find a hummingbird almost at my head. He/she was taking notice of some red flowers we had on the deck which happened to be behind me. It was such a nice visit. 8) Again, it came back a while later to show off to Eric.

Catch up Sunday....new schoolroom pics inside!

Man there is so much to catch up on. Seems our week was sooo busy I hardly had quality time to blog anything good! 8)

Well this week we had a farewell playdate with friends (one friend and kids are moving about 2 hours away), we hosted a pizza party with friends and had some good outside fun! We a few weeks left until school starts for us (Sept. 7th) and we have a lot to do before that to end our Summer fun!

1st here is our school schedule that I finally finished up:

Zachary - 1st and 2nd grade work schedule:

Mondays - Math, Spelling, Reading, Writing, Social Studies and Phys Ed
Tuesdays - Reading, writing, science, art and phys ed
Wednesday - We have Fall HS Camp for 8 weeks (which has science, phys ed and other subject incorporated into it) plus reading, writing, health
Thursday - Reading, writing, science, music and phys ed
Friday - sign langl, math, spelling, reading, writing, s. studies and phys ed
Saturday - reading and writing and phys ed

We school 6 days a week (probably 7 honestly) so we can shorten our hours per day and still get in our 900 hours per year.

Also library 1 time a week (maybe more), field trips and playdates. We incorporate a lot of subjects into 1 activity. Reading, writing and spelling will be 1 actual worksheet or activity, so it seems like a lot but really it's not.

Here is a picture of those painting containers from Discount School Supply I was telling you all about. They are great!

I see that Staples has their penny sales this week on notebooks and more. We have a good amount of stuff to start off with but I can't resist those sales! I also was able to find some great stuff at our Dollar Tree yesterday. A whole packet of Story Starters which are great and a variety of Folder Games...which are similar to board games but they are all in a folder...similar to lapbooking. Can't beat it for a $ 1.

Hubby is out looking for a new (or additional) vehicle. His car is only 4 years old and has over 160,000 miles on it 8( He drives far to work every day.

I am going to post also pictures of the new school room design I just got done with...

Ok so this week the kids have dentist appts, it's hubby's birthday on Tuesday, Oh and Molly is featured (Tuesday) on the Potty Poloza for Parentsconnect.com....go see her on Tuesday on the site! Read her potty training success story....well I gotta run and catch up on other blogs...be back later!
